About Jeff Voncannon

Jeff Voncannon is the Founder and Principal of Redman Management Company — the continuation of a successful investment strategy in oil and natural gas reserve growth through acquisition, exploitation, and exploration, with a secondary focus on midstream and oilfield services across the United States. That strategy has produced substantial returns of greater than 30% IRR on 31 investments over 34 years.

A petroleum engineer by training, Jeff began his career at Prairie Producing Company in 1985, then joined Unocal from 1990 to 1992 as Manager of Planning and Analysis for Natural Gas Marketing — sharpening the commercial instincts that would shape every venture afterward. In 1992 he founded Redman Energy Corporation and led it through to its sale in 2002. He went on to form Redman Energy Holdings I and II, both acquired by Eagle Rock Energy in 2007. Through Redman Resources, founded in 2008, he invests family-office and institutional capital in the energy sector via privately placed capital.

From 2010 to 2014 he led back-to-back turnarounds as President & CEO of Prize Petroleum and then Patra Oil & Gas. In 2013 Redman established F250, LLC with GSO Blackstone — focused on emerging conventional and unconventional exploitation plays — which executed multiple dispositions to Stout Energy, Ryca Energy, and Enerquest Oil & Gas in 2019. He served as Chief Executive Officer and Board Chair of Scandrill, Inc. through 2022 — brought in by the majority shareholders to reposition a distressed company, he successfully pivoted it in 13 months with a plan for future growth or acquisition. Today he is a focused dabbler across energy, real estate, and agriculture — principle investing, mentoring, and coming alongside ideas, businesses, and people to help them take their right next step.

A Distinguished Graduate of Texas A&M's Petroleum Engineering School, Jeff currently serves on the Industry Advisory Board of the Petroleum Engineering School and the Mays Innovation Research Center, and as an advisory board member of the First Liberty Institute. He is a former Chairman of the Board of Houston Christian High School, BridgePoint Bible Church, and Baseball USA, and a former Board member of Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association. He is a member of TIPRO, IPAA, and the Houston Producers' Forum, and is known across the A&D community for relationship-driven, handshake deal-making.

Jeff and his wife Lynne — both proud Aggies — live in Houston, where they raised four children. The Voncannons spend much of their time with family and friends on their working cattle ranch in Hempstead, Texas.
